MARGARET TALBOT

Staff Writer

The New Yorker

Margaret Talbot has been a staff writer at The New Yorker magazine since 2004 and was formerly a Contributing Writer at The New York Times magazine and executive editor of The New Republic magazine. She is the author of The Entertainer: Movies, Magic, and My Father's Twentieth Century (Riverhead, 2012) and, with her brother David Talbot, of By the Light of Burning Dreams: The Triumphs and Tragedies of the Second American Revolution (HarperCollins, 2021).

"My Mentor is Margaret Talbot who is a staff writer with The New Yorker. Margaret is always so kind and thorough in her responses to my questions. Even when I ask her something very vague, she offers as much actionable advice as possible on the topic. She is incredibly generous with her knowledge, resources, and skills and really goes above and beyond to offer help and support before I could even think to ask for it. I feel so blessed to be mentored by Margaret!"
